https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_watercraft-related_accidents

This article in particular the internal orifice section is kind of scary. Now we have flying personal watercraft that can go over 100 knots and can fly 300 nautical miles.

In order to make the aircraft spin resistant the designers felt it necessitated a gross weight of 1,680 lb (762 kg), so they got an exemption from the FAA restriction of 650 kg (see rules).

Quote: The Light Sport Aircraft Rule
The FAA defines a light sport aircraft as an aircraft, other than a helicopter or Powered-Lift that, since its original certification, has continued to meet the following:
Max. Gross Takeoff Weight: 1,320 lbs (600 kg) or 1,430 lbs for seaplanes (650 kg)
Max. Stall Speed: 51 mph / 45 knots CAS
Max. Speed in Level Flight (at sea level at standard temperature):138 mph / 120 knots CAS
Seats: Two (max.)
Engines / Motors: One (max. if powered.)
Propeller: Fixed-pitch or ground adjustable
Cabin: Unpressurized
Fixed-pitch, semi-rigid, teetering, two-blade rotor system, if a gyroplane.
Landing Gear: Fixed (except for seaplanes and gliders)

How about a new flying WaveRunner with snap on wings?

A guy in my parts has one. If it's not that exact model, it's awfully close. He always buzzes the beachfront properties at about 15' off the water, then comes out and buzzes me while I'm fishing. Close enough I could easily cast and snag him.

Too bad there's no room to store anything. Would be a more versatile bush plane if it had any sort of cargo space.
Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it.

This Searey sport is about $125K ready built, and much less as a kit. The Icon with the folding wings is $250K.

The Searey has a 450 pound payload with a max gross weight of 1430, range of 363 miles with 30 minute reserve
The Icon 5 has 430-550 pound payload with a max gross weight of 1510, range of 490 miles with 45 minute reserve. Baggage (Maximum): 60 lbs

Ugh. That's two men and a case of beer. This is obviously just a toy, similar to the flying parachute things I see so often.

Pilot school now starting classes in Utah for 2018 deliveries of flying car. Full FAA pilot's license will be needed since the plane is a heavy gyrocopter, free spinning overhead propeller with powered propulsion fan. 400,00 and 600,00. models.

Airbus reveals it's flying taxi design in Switzerland.

That clamp between the cab and the flying section better be really good in a bad storm.

I wonder if that is more than a megawatt of power?

They will laugh at this stuff in 30 years,
Like we laugh at the flying car concepts
from the 40's and 50's.

The batteries to run four motors would be
so heavy it will never get off the ground.
