It could be easily questioned whether the Canal Zone was U.S. soil but I'm personally fine with the interpretation that if you meet US citizenship rules at birth then you're a "naturally born citizen." Ted Cruz would be near the bottom of my list for president but I won't hold being born in Canada against him. I think we need to be concerned with real issues. Knowledge is Good -- Emil Faber |

He's a junior senator who's been running for the WH since he was elected. He's also unattractive and has no chin. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Pretty much this.... it's a rule that's debated so often for so little net effect.
Shame he left when he was 4... he didn't get any of the good stuff from up here... It is said that your life flashes before your eyes just before you die.... it's called Life |

He is a distraction. He is to much of a zealot to be the real candidate. I heard him swearing allegiance to Israel today. I also heard that rhetoric, is getting old on the world stage, the world wants a two state solution. The real candidate will show about 6 months out. I think it will be Walker. Similarly the dems can't really be planning to run HIllary, can they? That would be political suicide. Way too many skeleton's in the closet [and she is one of them] snarc. Walker versus Warren, they love their symbolism. And, it has such a nice ring to it. The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury. GW |

It is possible since he was from Africa that they put that, like today a father from say Niger would not put "African American." War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

I'm sure you agree that Africa is a continent, not a race. I'm thinking the family was offended that there was something about race at all, and got their way. Perhaps you had to live back in 1961 to realize how unlikely it would be that a doctor would not use "negro" on his own. I'm Still Standing, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah [it's an old guy chant for me] |

I know it is, but just throwing out an idea. Nobody used "African American" pre-1980s. I didn't live back then, but I was thinking the opposite. "Negro" was the term in the 1960s. Best I can tell, "negro" was not "offensive" until the late 1970s, though after 1970 it was an "old" term. There also might have been some kind of state law that mandated out-of-country parents had to list race such and such a way. FWIW even today the government makes people "guess" the person's race in some cases. For example, if you do a face-to-face mortgage application and refuse to give your race the person taking the application has to guess. That is Federal Law. Post-2000! So I will just say a lot of things might have come into play. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

In the spirit of Marshawn Lynch, many were there simply because they did not want to get fined. Yup, if you decided to skip the event because you support, say Rand Paul, the University will fine you. Is Liberty U really for Liberty lol ? http://dailycaller.com/2015/03/23/liberty-university-would-fine-students-who-skipped-ted-cruz-speech/ Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |

No different than schools that required students to purchase "Dreams From My Father." At least no charge required for Cruz. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

Hmm, was this a mandatory class? Probabbly not. Gigantic difference Attendance was mandatory at this political rally or you get fined. Rand Paul supporters were not happy about this. Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |
