What is the best way to do voice-over presentations online?

I have made a connection from some blog writing that has led me to developing an intro landman course online. It is not going to be the most fancy but I do need to do a lot of voice recording which will sync with what they need to see on the screen.

Does anyone have any experience with how you would do this? What I will need is the ability to have a .pdf on the screen and my voice-over with it. I will need to be able to manipulate it as I talk and annotate what I am talking about. For example, I will discuss who the "grantor" is and at the same time put a red box over that area. Or I might just have one highlighted and bring up a .pdf with just that highlighted. Then I need to do the same for date, legal description, etc.

I have to learn PowerPoint, but not sure if that is the best to use. Any advice?

Do you mean something like what I did with this video:

I bought a cheap microphone at BestBuy for $20 or so. I already had software that does screen and video captures. When I plugged the microphone into the USB port the software fortunately detected it so it was just a click or two to have the audio from the microphone go along with the video capture of that presentation. It was surprisingly easy.

For the software, I recommend SnagIt.

I've used JING before for demo videos... creates very usable 5 minute videos, for free. No fancy editing, but I like that, as it makes it much easier to be natural and also to compress into a short section.

It does have a paid for version with some basic tools.

You're welcome.

Just don't use any clip art.
