I've noticed that gambling affects my wardrobe. (Tee shirts from casinos, sun visors from casinos)

It affects my vocabulary from time to time.

This morning was Garbage Dawn where in the predawn darkness the garbage men make an awful racket. Now I'm in the boondocks of Florida and ain't nobody, but nobody, who "remembers" the garbage men in this area of the country at or around Christmas time. Nobody.

Yet, this morning there I was out in pre-dawn darkness doing battle with the mosquitoes, the dogs and the menacing shadows while awaiting the truck's loudly heralded arrival. I guess I just have too much "Vegas" in my blood but went out and shook hands with the loader and wished him a Happy New Year and then crossed in front of the truck and climbed up to shake hands with the Driver and wish him a Happy New Year. They were each grateful despite it being a rather paltry amount.

I mean.... in Vegas its a way of life but even elsewhere its still expected in certain circumstances. I gamble, so I tip dealers, doormen, valet parkers, waitresses, etc. And even if I'm in an area where others do not tip the garbage men... I do! Its simply the right thing to do.

I tip unorthodox positions as well. It is totally worth it.

When I was stunting, I always tipped the tire change guy. Always. It started because he was retarded cheap. It was a good $70 to have it done at the shop, even if I took the wheel of the bike for them. Dude only charged me $10. I always gave him at least double that, more if it was a good week. This turned into leeway come inspection time, the ol' "This wasn't like this when you came to me" wink and nod, and boom, on goes the sticker. And I'll never remember when I peeled the tread off the carcass and was facing a blown weekend of riding. Dude got out of bed, hungover, on Easter Sunday, to open his shop just to swap rubber for me. Totally worth it.

I also tip the zamboni and skate sharpening guy. It's just a few bucks, but when I need an edge, I need it now. And suddenly, dude is always available to get it done, no matter how busy he is.
Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it.

Well, several months ago a Ham and Eggs waitress let her coworkers know she was heading to the nearby Seminole Casino for some show and a good deal of slot action. I walked over and handed her an extra dollar and suggested she try Baccarat or Blackjack instead of slots. She hadn't even been my waitress, its just a general attitude gamblers seem to have: be generous and spread some luck around.

Sometimes the girls selling gasoline will see my tee shirt and ask me gambling questions.

And a few times women have asked if I won my Riviera Winners tee shirt and I usually tell them "No, I rolled a drunk for it".

Life's little laughs and stuff like that, but no one ever gonna reward me in any way for it.

Wow.
I think that garbage crew remembered who it was who wished them a happy new year.

They picked up the toppled empty cans at the roadside and brought them over to the rear of my car and waited a moment until I had driven out of the way and then closed the gate for me.

Sure in Vegas tipping gets rewards. Dealers really do keep their eyes open when they get tips, even small ones. Small tips prompt others to tip and dealers know that. If I miss my odds bet, they won't encourage odds but they will ask about it. Little things like that can make a difference.

Would Vegas be as much fun for me if I did not tip? Probably not but even on the gambling boats where the dice move so fast so as to maximize their time in International Waters, its nice to have the crew looking out for me and calling out "fleastiff' from time to time.
