Think of it as an internet "cable" company. Say basic access includes Netflix, Amazon and Yahoo. Next level also throws in HBO. Then you can add whatever other content providers come up with. Maybe a music channel, specialty channels, etc. And of course sports will be sold separately. Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

On the flip side, it could be Megyn Kelly :-) Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |

Pretty, but painfully thin. Don't care for bony women. Kimberly Guilfoyle is more to my liking. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Well Showtime, HBO and Starz will all offer stand alone streaming services next year. I am not sure what is different. My cable company offers HBO®, Cinemax®, Showtime®, The Movie Channel® and Starz® Bundle for $35 on top of the $40 it costs for 25 Mbps internet and over the air stations. But you have to pay at least $12/mo per TV for set top box. They just don't advertise it very loud, as they prefer people to buy all the regular cable channels as well. The recent World Bank map of the world without internet shows that Internet is still relatively rare around the world (especially in India). |

Really? 50 million people in the US have no internet access at all? I find that hard to believe. Also, 92 millions in Ethiopia? Are there even that many people in that country? Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

The 50 million is often a low estimate. The number 60 million is more often reported. The current population in 2013 is 94 million, so it is very rare. Given that it is usually easier to acquire a mobile phone than a landline in many third world countries, I presume internet will come via phones first. US and Canada have a ratio of roughly 2 mobile lines per land line while Mexico has 5 times as many. year US land line US mobile CAD land line CAD mobile MX land line MX mobile 2000 192,513,000 109,478,031 20,840,000 8,727,000 12,331,676 14,077,880 2013 135,141,000 305,743,000 17,499,000 27,581,688 20,590,449 105,005,729 |

Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 146 Posts: 25013 | Wow, 98-02 were my best years for selling on Ebay, I made a killing. It was when net access went over 50% that I saw the decline and in 04 it was obvious. More and more sellers came online and made things that were hard to find commonplace. What I sold something for in 2000 was now selling for half that. Today I don't know how people make a living on Ebay, early on it was fish in a barrel. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Whats facinating is old electronics now comanding very high prices. I am a big fan of the sony 1gb mini-disc and the small HI-MD walkman machines. Its old tech, about 15 to 20 years old. Sony and other companies made a ton of these machines and discs. No longer manufactured. A hi-md 1gb disc went for about 5 to 6 dollars 10 years ago. The going pice is now 25 dollars a hi-md blank disc on ebay. Ebay is the only place to find this stuff because nobody manufactures this stuff. I got about 80 of these hi-md discs at home but I love them because I have music loaded on all of them. Also have about 6 machines. When I noticed prices going up, bought a ton of discs and 5 back up hi-md walkmans. Love this technology. Its what I listen to on my bicycle rides commuting to work. No interest in selling. If I did sell, would make a killing. Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |

Ok, thanks! I thought, in knee-jerk fashion, there were maybe 30 millions in Ethiopia. it doesn't strike me as a big country... Shows what I know. Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |
